Hazardous Products Laboratory
The National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology of the National Gendarmerie (INCC/GN) is a public administrative institution located in Algiers, Algeria. The institute, under the supervision of the Ministry of National Defense and the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, exercises supervisory powers.
The Hazardous Materials Laboratory is a key unit within the Fire and Explosion Department. It focuses on the analysis and identification of hazardous substances, including CWC chemicals and other potentially hazardous materials.




The Hazardous Materials Laboratory specializes in the analysis and identification of hazardous chemicals, particularly those covered by the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Its mission is to support investigations by analyzing toxic substances and chemicals involved in industrial accidents or environmental hazards.
The laboratory was designated in April 2024 by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), strengthening its role in the detection and analysis of chemical agents in accordance with international standards.






The Hazardous Materials Laboratory actively contributes to the training of African States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), particularly in the African region. By participating in specialized workshops and training programs, the laboratory contributes to improving the technical expertise of professionals involved in chemical security and weapons control across the continent.
The laboratory collaborates with numerous international and regional organizations to support the implementation of the CWC. The laboratory plays an active role in providing technical expertise, training, and resources to assist States Parties.
